Lucky Girl Syndrome
Have you ever seen a kind of people that seem to get whatever they want in the most natural ways? It looks like everything aligns in their favor. I think you did. Some people just have it. They win, they always keep it positive, and hope is their currency. How can it be? Is it the “lucky girl” syndrome everybody talks about? Do we born with it, or is it a skill we gain?
Social media is flooded with people talking about the power of positive thinking, manifestations and affirmations. The concept behind it is that if you consistently think about something you will attract it into your life. Sounds like magic I know, but there’s much more than sending signals to the Universe and expecting your dream life to come tomorrow. Let’s break it down.
I believe that everything around us has energy: people, cities, nature. Our thoughts are the things that define the course of that energy. The way we think shapes the reality: if we focus on negative thoughts, we will bring negative things into our lives, and, vice versa, if we focus on positive ones – positive things will be attracted. Get me right: we create our lives by ourselves, not the Universe. We choose to what focus on.
Imagine a situation: you need to host a conference with a lot of people as visitors, but you have that bad, anxious feeling called the stage fright. You focus on thoughts like “What if the microphone isn’t working properly?”, “What if I will forget the script?”, or “What if I will fail and embarrass myself?”, and sit on pins and needles. Do you think you will success on this conference? I don’t think so. This is one in a million situations where thoughts and mindset shape the reality.
“Lucky girl” syndrome is not magic, it is the strong believe in yourself, your dreams and goals. Fortunately, we are responsible of our own thoughts, so we can become one of these lucky people. Here is how manifestation actually works and what you need to start manifesting.
Visualization
The first step you should take is the visualization. You have to visualize your goals with a deep understanding of them and of the path to those goals. You have to know exactly what you want and why you want it.
I have a friend; she’s in finance and she had been working in one small bank for 2 years. But she always wanted to be bigger, to move abroad and get an internship with some worldwide bank. So, she told me one story: she had a teacher at the university who asked her: “Where do you really want to be? Where do you think you belong?”. She answered that she isn’t sure, but it would be great if she worked in Singapore. And he kept asking her questions to get to that deep end of herself. So, what happened is she chose the bank, set her goals, and focused on making them happen. That was the moment she started to manifest. She even had a wallpaper on her phone with the building of that bank. Guess where is she now? She is in Singapore, working in the place she always wanted.
Actions
Then come actions. You have to take actions. Imaging yourself on the pedestal getting what you want is very great and cheerful, but to go there you have to go through challenges and put yourself into the work, work, and, again, work. Here, manifesting involves creating habits through repetition. Repetition creates patterns, and patterns lead to success. This process in neuroscience is known as “what fires together, wires together”.
Gratitude
Be grateful for everything you have: for being able to move your body, or for having a warm bed to go to sleep to, or for a good friend who will share your joy and sorrow. There’s so much to be thankful for, but, unfortunately, we don’t see these things just because we are so used to them that we can’t imagine living without them. But there are people, just like us, who don’t have these privileges. They are worried about where their next meal will come from, if they will be able to walk again, or if they will ever get the opportunities, we often take for granted. So, every day find something you are grateful for and pray for it or meditate.
You will never see a flower running for butterflies and begging them for attention. They grow, and they attract. You are the garden of flowers – you have to water yourself, take care of yourself, grow and wait. Keep it this way and one day you will see the thousands of butterfly wings, which are your dreams, flying towards you.
